Ardent Music‘s newest band, Star & Micey, are scheduled to play the Hi Tone Cafe on Monday, January 19th. Come on out and see a GREAT show with Nick Redmond and Grace Askew opening
A word on Star & Micey:
It was a dark night, like many before it in Memphis, Tennessee. Joshua Andrew Cosby walked home from rehearsal with his guitar, case-less, slung over his back. A local homeless man flagged him down, not for money but for a story. He explains to Cosby how he had written a song about his ex-wife Micey. There, on that dimly lit street there was an exchange, two men playing each other songs of heartbreak and the ultimate sacrifice. Upon parting ways, this man revealed his name to Cosby. That name became the fixture for one of Memphis’ most inventive bands, Star And Micey. It’s core members listed as three brothers without the same last name, Geoff Smith, Joshua Cosby, and Jerry Meadows. It was merely coincidence that Cosby later met Nick Redmond at a local pub and began a relationship based on music and above all, brotherhood.
Star and Micey is currently a four piece band featuring a revolving door of fantastic musicians. However, when the sun sets, it is Cosby, Meadows, Smith, and Redmond that work relentlessly next door to Ardent Studios in John Fry’s attic. Hopefully, the music they make up there can transcend material possessions, and feature something that is always tangible between these four troubadours; that thing is love.
Star & Micey’s debut EP for Ardent Music is due to be out in March. Stay tuned for more details!
