Luther Dickinson took a break from his touring schedule with the Black Crowes to come by Ardent with engineer Kevin Houston to mix what will be the next North Mississippi Allstars record in Ardent’s Studio C. Adam Hill assisted on the mix.
The record (which features a guest appearance by Jack Ashford of the Funk Brothers, who currently lives in Memphis) was cut at The Dickinsons’ own Zebra Ranch, but when it came time to mix, Luther knew he wanted the sounds of the Neve console. They mixed in Studio C for 6 days.
Luther will be on the road with The Black Crowes for much of the remainder of the year, but keep an eye out for the record’s release sometime in early 2011.
