Fairchild 660

The Fairchild 660 is a mono version of the stereo 670. Incorporating the same push-pull stage of amplification as the 670, these mono units are a staple of the professional audio industry. The attack time, which is very fast (50 microseconds) catches short transients that can, in other limiters, negate the limiting effect. The release time (3. to 25 seconds) provides real flexibility. Three positions (six are available) make the release time a function of program material. This fast recovery of program level helps keeps the audible sound of compression from sounding non-musical. Once again, the tubes and transformers define the color of this limiter. A favorite on vocals, and guitars, the Fairchild 660 never fails to impress.
