John Whittemore

Hailing from Mobile, Alabama, John came to Memphis in 1987 with a Les Paul under his arm. John played guitar in half a dozen bands before picking up the pedal steel, having fallen in love with it thru the music of Neil Young, the Stones and Led Zeppelin. Now playing guitars, mandolin, baritone, pedal steel in seemingly half the bands in Memphis, John LOVES sessions of just about any kind. John did a whole gig with Peter Buck’s side band, the Minus 5, on three days notice with no rehearsal a couple years back on guitar and steel and did Memphis proud.
