Rickey Shelton
Rick made the journey to Memphis from Wisconsin at 18 years old, in a car full of gear, with vision and determination to get a record deal. He scored three. Signed to Atco/East West records with ‘The Mother Station’ in 1994, Wind-Up records with ‘Dust For Life’ in 1999, and Lava/Atlantic records with ‘Course of Nature’ in 2001. All three entailed the recording of the album, video, national touring, promotion for television and radio, and magazine interviews including a feature in Modern Drummer. Since then, he has been called upon for sessions for original songwriters, drawing upon his experience from the last twenty years of recording and live performances. Rick can be relied upon to play live, and record in studio a variety of drum tracks and alternate percussion, including modern, alternative, hard rock and rock fusion, jazz, funk, contemporary, blues, R&B, country, zydeco, and progressive music. In addition to drums, Rick is used for recording back-up vocals. He is a quick study, a patient guy, and loves your music as much as you do.
